June 2023 Summary

Here’s what happened in June!

Lots of new faces, both rescues and surrendered pets. We took in a wild tanuki (raccoon dog), a hedgehog (Little Lady Night Fury), an alpaca guinea pig (Hank), a 7 year old snake (coastal carpet python), two Quaker parrots, and a Bourke’s parrot. The tanuki walked right up to AnimO in desperate need of medical attention, the next three were surrendered by their owners, and the Quakers are retired breeders. The Bourke’s parrot had been flying around the facility where the Quakers were for so long the staff had given up trying to catch it. When I was there it landed on my head and practically demanded to come to AnimO, so here we are!

Bruno and Robin have been moved to dog rescues to free up AnimO resources for exotic animals and wildlife rehabilitation. We wish them the best and hope they find forever homes soon! If you’re looking to adopt a dog or cat, please seek out a shelter that specializes in dogs or cats, AnimO is a sanctuary and does not handle public adoptions.

Maximillian the cockatoo had plucked a lot of his own feathers when he arrived. He is making great progress in letting them grow back!

Thank you to everyone on my Patreon, as well as everyone else that sent or brought packages of supplies. Every single donation is appreciated!

Unfortunately there were a lot of surprise medical expenses this month. Expensive medicine for the tanuki, Luna’s mouth and spay surgery, and a few others. So if you know someone who wants to support AnimO, or if you want to help more, there are lots of ways!
