AnimO welcomed a 45-year-old Sulcata tortoise named Minnie, and she is one of the more affectionate tortoises we have ever met.
Another new face was a crow, from a veterinarian in Niigata. As an unexpected bonus, that veterinarian also gave a consult on Milly the Shiba’s bad knees that prevent her from walking, and is helping to rehome a pitbull named Saffy. What a great connection!
The turkeys Gus and Marsha have been moved to a temporary enclosure, just until we can get the fencing finished on a larger enclosure.
Ham Solo and Brittany Squeals (now Ron and Roy) have been relocated to a partner sanctuary in Tottori, run by Richard Pearce of Sustainable Daisen. (https://www.sustainabledaisen.org/en/home) Kevin and Barbie remain at AnimO and are getting to know each other under supervision. Pigs are herd animals, so they do best when they have friends around. We are so happy for Kevin to finally have a friend!
On the last day of the year, Fluffy laid a beautiful emerald egg! Hopefully this is a good sign for the year to come.
